Miracles at Wilkes Villa by Paul Grodell
God’s Word says in Matt chapter 25 verses 41-43 that we are to reach out and minister to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. In fact Jesus specifically tells us that if we don’t, when we stand before him He will tell us “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave me no food: I was thirsty and you gave me no drink: I was a stranger and you did not take me in, naked and you did not cloth me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me. Since July of 2008 when God spoke to our hearts, my wife and I along with a team of people from different churches have come together to minister to those who live in the Wilkes Villa housing projects in Elyria Ohio. We have been so privileged to see how God has raised up a church in the middle of one of the worst as far as crime and drug use places in Elyria. God first brought out a team of people from Cross Community Church who began to interact and invite the people to a bible study they were having in the community building which is used for a day care during the day. People started to show up but soon it was discovered that there was a need to minister to the children that were coming with the adults. We were approached by good friends of ours who were attending a school of ministry hosted by Cross Community Church to see if we would be willing to minister to the children. Since that time we and others from both Church on the Rise and Cross Community have seen God do amazing things. God has brought over 85 children (we have had as many as 125) to a childrens service that we have every other Thursday. The miracles of Gods provision has been amazing, last November God told us to provide a wrapped Christmas present and dinner to every child in Wilkes Villa. Although we aren’t funded and don’t have a budget God provided for 90 families to receive a full Christmas meal along with 270 children who each received at least one present. The Lord also through this allowed us to go into many of the homes and pray with families as we delivered the gifts and food. Another miracle of provision has come through us being able to give 4 bikes away every time we do a service. This provision has come through a ministry called Bike Point. It is run by Bryce Rapp. Bryce along with others collects bikes reconditions them and gives them to children that need them. He not only provides us with bikes but also to anyone who is in need. At the most recent service we had on August 20th we were so blessed to see the Holy Spirit move mightily in the service. Children received prophetic words spoken over them as God spoke directly into their lives as they were worshiping Him. Many adults think that children cannot experience the move of the Holy Spirit but we have seen it mightily with the children in Wilkes Villa. I was amazed to hear about a little girl named Abby who came out with her dad who was giving the message. While the little girl was shopping with her mom the following day at Wallmart she looked at her and said, “Mom we are so rich” when her mom asked what do you mean? Abby went on to explain that she had made a friend at the service the night before and she felt really bad for her new friend because her shoes were all worn out. Abby seeing the need from the night before told her mom that she would like to by her knew friend a pair of shoes with the money she had. And wouldn’t you know it that God arranged to have a great sale on shoes, most shoes just a dollar a pair! So not only was Abby able to by shoes for her new friend but also for 11 other little girls. Seeing this, mom was also moved to buy 15 more pairs of shoes. So because of one little girl who saw a need and acted on it in faith God multiplied that one pair to become 27 pairs. An 8 year old girl named Abby has witnessed Gods arithmetic found in Matt 14:17, Have You?
